One of the wonders of the Portuguese Way is found when you reach Caldas de Reis. Here, after crossing the Umia River, you will discover a source of hot springs known for their healing properties.
It is said that these waters have healing powers for respiratory, rheumatic, skin, gynecological and surgical conditions.
On the penultimate day of your trip, you will arrive at A Escravitude, in Padrón. This is where you will be surprised by the powerful Sanctuary that stands in this place. Tradition says that pilgrims freed themselves from the "slavery" of diseases by drinking the waters of a spring that flows under the temple.
These are just some of the wonders that await you on the Portuguese Way to Santiago. Let yourself be surprised at every step of your journey!
The Portuguese Way is the second busiest route to Santiago. Starting from the south, it crosses the most populated area of Galicia, the Rías Baixas, and passes through historic towns and cities such as Tui, Pontevedra, Caldas de Reis or our town Padrón, following the old route of the 19th Roman road.
This route offers a wide network of services, including hostels and accommodations such as our Hotel Scala, equipped with a cafeteria, restaurant and daily menu, as well as ample capacity. We are at the end of the road, just before embarking on the last stretch towards the city of the Apostle.
In addition, the Portuguese Way is easier than the French Way and gives you the opportunity to enjoy forests, small villages, manors, fortresses and panoramic views of the estuaries.
