Gateway to Ribeira Sacra. The medieval town that was called Monte-Forte features outstanding heritage, including the Monastery of San Vicente do Pino, its houses bearing coats of arms in the old quarter, the Roman bridge called Ponte Vella or the so-called Galician Escorial (nuns of St. Claire), an impressive Renaissance building that houses works by El Greco.
The aromas of Amandi wine. You can see the largest area of vineyards of this grape variety belonging to the Ribeira Sacra designation of origin. There is the possibility of touring and tasting in some of the area’s wineries.
Impressive location with a castle on top a hill, surrounded by terraces on the slopes. Don’t be surprised to see women cooking octopus outside bars on some days of the week.
Large rocky formations form the River Sil canyons, which are navigable along 40 km of peaceful waters full of monasteries, churches and vineyards that account for the name Ribeira Sacra
Benedictine monastery built in the 11th century and recently restored as a hotel belonging to the “Paradores” chain. It features a beautiful Romanesque cloister with elements from different artistic movements.
