You already know that the Hotel Scala Group is located in Padrón, a town with history that is worth knowing and also an ideal enclave to move to the rest of Galicia and know the many wonders that our community offers, taking into account, in addition, that we are one step away from the AP-9, the highway that runs from north to south.
But, if you prefer to stay close or come to eat and look for a plan to spend the afternoon (and lower the food), we can also think of a lot of places where you can enjoy. In this post we invite you to visit fervenzas (waterfalls) and, although it is very difficult to choose which are the most beautiful (do not forget that Galicia is the country of a thousand rivers), we have looked at some of the closest, less than Half an hour drive from the Scala Hotel.
Fervenzas da Ruxidoira and Raxoi
The same N-550 in which our Hotel Scala is located will take us in just over a quarter of an hour, and after taking a detour to the right in the neighboring municipality of Valga, at the beginning of a route where we will find these two waterfalls The road starts before several mills, next to which we will find wooden walkways and stairs that will take us first to the Fervenza da Ruxidoira and a beautiful pool where we can even take a dip if the heat squeezes.
Continuing the ascent, through a rugged terrain and a few hundred meters above, we will then find the Raxoi Fervenza, even more spectacular. One tip to keep in mind is that in the rainy season it is better to access this last waterfall from a forest track that is higher up.
Fervenza de San Xusto
Twenty minutes from our facilities, we find this beautiful waterfall at the foot of the AC-543, which connects Noia with Santiago, as it passes through the town of Lousame. It is integrated into a natural landscape of great beauty on the banks of the San Xusto River, tributary of the Tambre. We leave the car on the road and take a road that goes down to see, first, a series of buildings belonging to the old Toxosoutos monastery, among which are the rectory, a mill or a dovecote.
We have to follow a way that goes up the slope next to the church to reach the Fervenza de San Xusto or Toxosoutos. If we dare to continue the ascent, the reward will be to find a few meters with another waterfall.
Fervenza do Pozo Negro
Less known than the previous ones, the Fervenza do Pozo Negro is located in the municipality of Brión, 25 minutes from the Hotel Scala, in the place where the Chavielos River, at its mouth, falls on the Tambre. To access it, we can leave the car near the church of Santa María de Ons or in Ponte das Pías, where an ascending path will take us to the waterfall, as well as a wooden bridge and a pond.
What do you think of these excursions for an autumn weekend? It seems to us a very attractive way of knowing our surroundings by breathing fresh air. We wait for you at the Hotel Scala Group.
