The most romantic botanical garden
One of the jewels of the capital of Sar is undoubtedly its botanical garden. Considered one of the oldest in Spain, this space of one hectare founded in 1946 is declared as a Property of Cultural Interest. With a Frenchised design, full of labyrinths and flowers, the garden is full of examples related to the literature and culture of Galicia: Rosalía's centenary redwood, under which the poet wrote many of his works; The tree of the Nobel, in memory of Camilo Jose Cela, or the gigantic palm of Senegal. But if there is a special element, that is the tree of love: with a circular crown form, tradition says that the couples that are inserted together within their spined branches, will remain united forever.
A special corner: the Seat of Lovers
In the same garden, very close to the statue in honor of Macias o Namorado - a troubadour who became a legend for a tragic love story - is the Seat of Lovers, a very special corner. Since the opening of the garden, the couples of the area were meeting in a modest seat, that was retired by someone with the pass of the time. Years later, a popular initiative was proposed to recover it, and a sculptor of the zone realized a carving of wood that returned to the seat its popularity. But it was not enough. Locals wanted that this time, the most romantic corner of the town endure in time: Neighbors made a collection to be able to build the bank in bronze. The new seat was inaugurated on February 14, 2011, and since then, spending some time in there near to Valentine's Day has become into a tradition.
