With the arrival of good weather and summer just around the corner; the sea, the swimming pools and the rivers become the indisputable protagonists of Galicia. In Padrón, we are lucky to have one of the most important rivers and the greatest variety of activities offered in Galicia, the Ulla river.
Today, from our blog, we have decided to make a selection of activities for all those who want to enjoy their waters from different perspectives.
The Flavors of the Ulla River
For fishing lovers there is good news, from 1 to 31 March opens the fishing season! The Ulla is one of only two flows of the area called "salmon river". It has six fishing areas of salmon: Ximonde, Sinde, Pontevea, Santeles, Couso and Gres-Deza (these last two, fishing without death) and also with large free fishing areas and different preserves, for which you need a permit. The main species caught in this case are trout, reos and zamboscas.
But we can not talk about fishing in the Ulla, without saying anything about the millenarian fisheries where the traditional product of the waters is caught: the lamprey.
Water and adrenaline
Those who enjoy the strong emotions and adventure tourism, also have their place on the Ulla. This long and mighty course hosts a multitude of multi-adventure activities that you can enjoy individually or collectively, hiring the services of a private company or by yourself. Some of the funniest are: Hidrospeed (descent of the river lying on a plastic table and propelled by fins), archery, tirolina, abseiling, rafting, kayak for 1,2 and up to 3 persons and puenting in the bridges of Barcala, Sinde, and Carcacía. If you like strong emotions, do not miss it!
Peace and nature
For those who prefer a more relaxed plan, the river beach of "O Areeiro" is an ideal place to spend a quiet afternoon. About 10 minutes drive from our hotel, in this beautiful area you can enjoy not only a refreshing bath or a good siesta in the shade of the trees, but also a good meal between friends or family. The area has a specific place for picnic and barbecues.
Hiking and good views
And for the more sportsmen, a whole of the whole river, you can find different routes in which, in addition to a good walk, the culture, nature and art of our area are also mixed. We recommend the route "Secrets of Ulla-Sar", which ends with the ascent to Monte de Meda viewpoint, the best place to see the end of the Ulla and the beginning of the Ria de Arousa!
If you want come to know all the possibilities offered by one of our two rivers, do not wait any longer and book your stay at Hotel Scala!
