The celebration of Easter in Padrón has its roots in the 17th century, with a horse fair that goes back even further in time, attracting dealers from all over Galicia and even Castile. Declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia, the Easter festivities in Padrón offers a wide variety of events for all ages and tastes, starting with the XXXV Raid Cabalar, which starts on March 23 in the morning. From that day until April 13, Padrón will be filled with activities to celebrate this holiday, among them, the Galician Chess Championships that will be held at our Hotel Scala.
The big holiday weekend begins on Saturday, March 30, with the celebration of multiple events such as the traditional Easter Race. Starting at 10:00 in the morning, the streets of Padrón are filled with celebrations with music, festivals, orchestras and activities for the whole family. Among the most anticipated performances is the concert by Fillas de Cassandra, who will perform on the night of Sunday, March 31.
Another of the most important days of these festivals is Easter Monday itself, a holiday throughout the municipality. Starting at 11:00 in the morning, there will be parades, giants and big heads and lots of music to celebrate these traditional festivities in the town.
On April 5, 6 and 7, Pascuilla is celebrated in Padrón, which is the last big weekend of the festivities. Music, parades, sporting events, giants and big heads will close this year's Easter festivities, although on April 13 the Andaina Bisbarra do Sar will take place, which is the last activity included in the program.
