The “pregón” or proclamation officially opens the Holy Week of Padrón, which this year begins on April 9. One of the most important times in the festive calendar of our land, where religious appointments are combined with the more pagan leisure of Easter and Pascuilla.
The processions that are celebrated, famous in the surroundings, are daily. Among them are the Encounter, the Holy Burial and Os Caladiños and the Holy Cross of Calvary, the most striking for tourists and locals as it leaves at 23:30 at night and is composed of faithful with hoods making noise with their rattles And rattles, a percussion band and devotees carrying bare chains.
If on the one hand we have the most typical passion of Easter and the religious exaltation typical of the dates, on the other we will have the most lively contrast with the following days corresponding to the days after the Holy Saturday, which cram the city of street pulperías, gift and gastronomy shops and fairground attractions.
The program of musical and cultural appointments is also very intense, both day and night: orchestras, concerts, activities for the little ones and proposals of the most varied in the local hospitality, to eat and drink as "God sends" in those days.
Finally, do not miss the horse fair on Sunday, an event that attracts many curious to admire closely the specimens of these noble animals.
If you decide to come to visit us in those days, remember that you can enjoy all the lively activities of Padrón, without suffering the noise neither during the day nor during the night, since our facilities are to the outskirts of the city.
