On Sunday 22 May, the Hotel Group Scala had the privilege of organizing the "Xantar of Honor" in relation to the award ceremony of the famous awards Pedrón de Ouro and "Pedrón of Honor".
The Pedrón de Ouro Foundation; born in 1964 to defend and promote the language, culture and Galician heritage, awarded annually both awards in order to recognize the fervent work of a living personality or entity in favor of our culture, both residents outside and inside of our community.
This year the ceremony was held at the Rosalie Museo Casa de Castro, where the Galician choir "Cantigas da Terra" and the doctor and professor of Romance philology Carmen Mejía Ruíz received Pedrón de Ouro and "Pedrón of Honor" respectively .
The winners "Cantigas da Terra" were commissioned to liven up the act through a brilliant performance, which demonstrated his experience as renowned musicians in defense of our language. Also this year, the delivery of this award has coincided with the centenary of the establishment of this historic choir.
For its part, the award-winning Carmen Mejia said the strong bond that unites our culture despite its Castilian origin. Mejia has been teaching on various areas of the Galician culture in Univesidad Complutense de Madrid. He madrygal also directed the magazine, magazine studies published in the Galician capital.
