No matter how much you think you know it, Galicia always has the capacity to surprise you. It does not arrive with a life to be able to discover the rural life, the cities with great personality, the nature that surrounds it and the wonderful gastronomy elaborated with the best products.
In your stay at our Hotel Scala we recommend you to visit the following cities, very close to Padrón, which will leave you speechless:
Pontevedra. Most of the city center is pedestrianized and completely adapted to promote the mobility of people, so you can park your car somewhere in the city and walk it. The nights are lived in the street, as the monumental area is full of squares filled with people sitting on the terraces of the tapas bars. The largest of these places is A Ferraria, next to the church of the Virgen Peregrina and is the natural entrance to the monumental area. Both the square and the church are located on the Camino de Santiago Portuguese. The Plaza de la Leña has a spectacular 14th century stonework cruceiro and the Pontevedra Provincial Museum. Near the Plaza del Teucro you will find one of the oldest and most authentic bars in Pontevedra: La Navarra. Crossing the Puente de los Tirantes you will find yourself in one of the most spectacular parks: Isla de las Esculturas, a museum of international contemporary outdoor sculpture.
Vilagarcía de Arousa. Today it is famous for its port, its fish and its clear tourist vocation, evident in its beautiful beaches and landscapes, in the festivals. A good way to start visiting the city is with the panoramic views from its viewpoints: Mount Meda, Mount Xiabre, the Mount of Carril and Mount Lobeira. In the monumental area you can visit the pazo and convent of Vista Alegre, the pazo of Golpelleira and the one of Rubiáns. In the Praza de España is the main temple of Vilagarcía: the church of Santa Baia de Arealonga, from the XVIII century. Something that can not be missed in your visit to the village is the walk along Compostela beach and the visit to the port, a place to enjoy a good seafood.
Santiago de Compostela. The first thing to do when you arrive in the capital of Galicia is to walk through the streets and squares of the historic center and then enter the Cathedral. From its rooftops you can see all the roofs of the city and you can see in all its splendor the monumentality of the place. In Cidade da Cultura you can enjoy an extensive program of interesting temporary exhibitions and cultural activities. Something essential in your visit is a walk to the main parks and gardens that offer panoramic views of the monumental area: San Domingos de Bonaval and Alameda. The former also has two interesting museums. Unthinkable is not experiencing the night of Santiago: a quiet drink in one of the classic compostela pubs.
